I've been photographing her since she was 5 years old. Her parents have always liked having portraits hang in their home that are timeless. Her simplistic lace dress inspired this image and the result looked like a fragrance ad.
This image captures such love in her heart for Daddy. He beamed with pride as he held her in his arms. The portrait hangs in his living room and is his heirloom gift to his precious daughter.
Inspired by old Hollywood, my Photographer Mentors of the past used dramatic lighting to evoke mood and suspense. Just like film noir, contrast between dark and light shadows create intrigue. This image was taken with natural light outside using a fabric wrap, a wide brimmed hat, some vintage jewelry and sunglasses for a little mystery.
As we all know our babies get too heavy to hold. This Mom and Dad wanted a family portrait taken while their boys were still little. The days of holding a parent's hand or sitting on
a parent's lap becomes fewer and
fewer as children grow up. Another important time to have a family portrait is before an oldest child leaves home.
While taking his business headshot he told me he has just gotten engaged. He had proposed to his fiancé on their favorite golf course. We decided to recapture that memorable stroll and create a timeless portrait to hang in their home. Throughout life's challenges, they will always have their portrait to reflect on the immense love they have for one another.
Throughout my career I've been ask to photograph someone who will pass soon. It was an honor
to capture Mom's final portrait surrounded by the love and true
joy of her family. She died two months after this photograph was taken
